BF Question re: BM storage
Hey moms! I hope to be joining you in the very near future!
Anyway, I was wondering what most of you use or prefer to store BM. I plan to BF and pump, but I am not sure if I should use the bags or the plastic bottles to store BM. Any advice would be appreciated!

I use the plastic bottles in the fridge and the bags for the freezer. They stack much better in the freezer.

Same here. I've also started freezing 1 oz cubes to use when DD starts cereal.

Re: BF Question re: BM storage
Thanks ladies. So how many plastic bottles would you recommend getting for the fridge?

Re: BF Question re: BM storage
I'm a SAHM and EBF. I pump so DH can give a bottle once a day for when we leave DD w/ my Mom, and now for cereal. I had 4 bottles, bought 4 more, I only need more than 4 on occasion. I have gone through about 30 bags in 5.5 months.

Re: BF Question re: BM storage
do you plan on freezing a stash in case of an emergency? if so, bags are the way to go - cool them down in the fridge for 30 min, then put in the freezer - lay them flat and they'll freeze flat, saves lots of space. i like the lanisoh bags teh best so far. gerbers are pretty good too but don't like the medela w/the twist tie - pita if you ask me and the gerbers are good, but expensive.
if i pump for teh daycare bottles, then i refrigerate the bm i pumped in teh medela bottles, then transfer the bm to his dr.brown bottles and clean the medela bottles for the next day. if i know im freezing teh milk, i pour it directly into the bag after i pump and store it that way.
also - if u use a bag, do a scissor motion w/your fingers to get out the excess air :) good luck!

Re: BF Question re: BM storage
Yes I use both also...I pump directly into the little plastic bottles & then transfer to bottles or bags to freeze. I've gone through a ton of bags in 7 months...definitely over 100.
I agree I like the Lansolin the best.
I have 4 little bottles (I also pump at work so I keep it in there until I get home).
