BFing and bottles

If you're BFing, what type of bottles are you registering for? I don't know if one has nothing to do with the other tho. I keep hearing about Dr. Browns, but they're a PITA to clean. any suggestions?

Re: BFing and bottles

We are going to try the Playtex drop in's. I have heard good things from other mom's and I like that the "mouth" on the bottles is wide.

Re: BFing and bottles

I registered for a manual Medela breast pump, which comes with two plastic bottles and then two more glass ones. I also got a small plastic Avent one free when I opened my registry and someone gave me a generic one that was attached to a gift at my shower - so I have six in all of different kinds. Figured I can always get more if there are any that work better than others.

Re: BFing and bottles

DS has been doing well on Avent bottles. I'm not crazy about them b/c the caps can be a PITA to put on correctly, but I'm still using them since he hasn't had any issues with them.

I got a starter pack of the Playtex drop-ins and a starter pack of the Playtex Ventaire. I also have two Born Free bottles (I think that's whta they are) and another Drop-In bottle - these were all freebies.

Re: BFing and bottles

I registered for both the Dr. Browns and Born Free. I liked the Dr. Browns but DS preferred something with a wider neck and nipple. So we switched to the Born Free. He loves them. Never have any problems with gas. It really is trial and error. Some babies go through numerous bottles before finding one they like.

Me too! All you need is to sterlize the nipples, so easy!

Re: BFing and bottles

We will be using Playtex drop ins again. They worked great with ds. They have different flow nipples and ds never had any issues going between breast and bottle. Plus they are super easy to clean.

Re: BFing and bottles

Here is my suggestions. Register for a few different brands of bottles. I tried Dr. Browns, Avent, and Platex drop ins. I also used the Medela bottles a few times. My DS did not like the platex, or Avent bottles. DS loved Dr. Browns.
All the bottles have different size nipples, and I think a baby and a especially a BF baby prefers a certain nipple. THe same goes for pacifiers.
My sister has three kids and this was her suggestion when I was registering and she was completely right.

Oh and Dr. Browns do have a lot of parts, but its really not that big of deal to clean. Especially if you mostly BF. You won't be using that many bottles in a day.

I registered for Drop Ins but DD didn't take well to their nipples. She is now a Dr. Browns baby. They are not such a PITA to clean. I put all parts in the dishwasher in baskets.
