BFing dilemma.....HELP!

I had planned to wean DD at 6 months. Well, 6 months came and went and I love it so much I decided to go to a year.

Back in August, DH and I booked a 4 day trip to Mexico for a dear friend's wedding. We were not planning on taking DD (she'll be home with her grandparents). I had planned to just pump and dump while I was away to keep my supply up.

I didn't even think of this until my SIL mentioned it. Will she NOT want to nurse when I get home? OMG~ what have I done? I do NOT want to wean her yet, and pumping only is NOT ideal at ALL (I HATE pumping).

Will I be able to get her to latch after a 4 day break, or are my BFing days numbered. She'll be 8 months old when the wedding rolls around.

This is SO upsetting to me...Chat Icon

I think at 8 months she has her preferences. I don't think after 4 days she will say oh I like the taste of a rubber nipple better... I have no idea of the real answer but I think it should be ok.

Re: BFing dilemma.....HELP!

If she is still BFing at 8 mos, she will know the difference. The bottle does provide the comfort that the boob does.

If for any reason she should self wean, I would think its for different reason.

Thanks ladies~ DH is no freaking out thinking I want to cancel the trip (I do, but I know how important it is for us to be there).

I put in a call to my LC, just waiting for a call back.

Honestly by 8 months a baby totally knows the difference between bottle and boob. And knows the comfort and warmth that comes with the boob. I would not worry about it at all.
