Re: BFing moms - pumping question

Here is a general idea of our "schedule":
DS sleeps 7pm-1/2am-6/6am

4:30am-PUMP
6:00-DS wakes
7- DS has bottle
7:30- PUMP
10:00- DS has bottle
10:30- PUMP
1:00- Nurse
4:00- Either I nurse or DS gets a bottle(If he gets a bottle- I pump at this time)
6:45- Nurse
7pm-Bedtime for DS
8:30-PUMP and then I go to sleep.
1-2am-DS gets up to nurseChat Icon

Sooo-I have 2 extra pumping sessions/day.

Re: BFing moms - pumping question

When DS was BFing I used to still wake up at night to pump. During the day I would pump right after I nursed him, or after he got a bottle.
Either way I still tried to pump every 3 hours.

Re: BFing moms - pumping question

Thanks for the schedule! I guess what I mean is, if you're going a long stretch without BFing, to prevent engorgement, and keep up milk supply...when do you pump? Before bed? Wake up in the middle of the night and pump?

Re: BFing moms - pumping question

When DS began STTN he would go down at 7:30. I would pump batefore bed (around 11:30ish) and that would be it.

Within 3-5 days I didn't need to pump anymore. My body adjusted pretty quickly.

When DS was STTN- I mainted the same schedule (very early session and 1 right before bed). I never woke up just to pump...

Re: BFing moms - pumping question

Yael goes to sleep around 8pm. I pump right before I go to bed around 10pm.
