BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
Yesterday I pumped a little since they say this increases your supply. Well when DD woke and wanted to nurse, NOTHING was coming out and she was SCREAMING. This went on for 45 minutes -- till my milk finally let down.
Is there any OTHER way to increase milk supply? I don't want to use formula but I don't know what to do when she screams like that.... it happened again in the afternoon and I wound up giving her the pumped milk (which I wanted to save for a feeding when I would be out of the house). Now I am afraid to pump - that she will want to nurse and I have nothing again...
Any suggestions please???

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
How do you know nothing came out when she nursed? It is suggested to pump after a feeding. Ways to increase supply is plenty of water, oatmeal, oat cereal - Cheerio's

I agree, pump after a feeding if you can to increase supply, and drink plenty of water.

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
Don't pump in place of her nursing. Try to pump after she feeds.
Drink plenty of water, eat often, and try oatmeal.

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
Oatmeal and lots of water will help increase your supply. You can also go and buy Mother's Milk Tea, that's supposed to work too. As far as pumping goes, you should pump whatever is left in your breasts AFTER you feed DC.

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
Thank you so much!! Well I don't think she was getting anything because she was screaming her "feed me NOW" cry and there was NOTHING in her mouth after sucking a bit -- she usually has a little milk around her lips.
I am off to have some oatmeal! And now will try pumping AFTER she nurses. I drink tons of H20 but will try to increase it. My mom told me beer...so I had one last night, and when she nursed later all was well - so I may include a beer every evening too..

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
If you pump after Bfing it will tell your body to produce more because it will trick your body into thinking that the baby is eating more at each feeding. That is how I built up my supply and grew a freezer stash of extra milk. I went back to work part time after only 3 weeks and by pumping after feedings I never needed to give DS formula.

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
Pump AFTER you feed. There is ALWAYS milk in your breasts... it doesn't ever go "empty". Also, when you're in the shower, let the warm water run on your ta-tas for a bit and massage... try to "express" some milk in the shower.
Also... try drinking some Fennel Tea. They have tea called "Mother's Milk" that my sister suggested. I've been drinking the Fennel (also helps with gas )

Re: BFing Moms -- Milk Supply Question
Definitely oatmeal, lots of water and Mother's milk tea. I had a breast reduction, so I've always known I would have supply issues. After eating oatmeal and drink lots of the tea daily, I saw a difference in my supply in a few days.
