BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
Do you wake them up before putting them in the crib?
What happens if they don't fall asleep? Do you have to rock or hold them until they fall asleep?
BTDT moms what happened when you were done BFing? How was DC at bedtime?
DC is 9 mos and 90% of the time he falls asleep on the boob. i try and stir him alittle before putting him down but lately if he gets put down awake all hell breaks loose. We did CIO for the middle of the night and it did work for the most part. I dont know if CIO will work for going down unless I wake up him every time. Can you tell I'm already having anxiety about whats going to happen when I stop BFing after he turns 1?

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
The though of weaning in a few months scares the **** out of me. DS still only falls asleep BFing. The only time he goes down to sleep without eating is in the car. He will go down to sleep at night in a drowsy state but that's really it. I don't know what I am going to do but I have been talking to DH about this a lot lately.

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
My DS falls asleep while nursing 80% of the time but the other times, I just lay him down drowsy and he falls asleep within 10 or so minutes. No crying. Thank goodness bc he is 8 months old now and I'm planning on weaning very soon!

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
DD used to fall asleep. She was 7 months when she weaned. I would give her a bottle before bed and she was fine. But she was and still is an excellent sleeper.
DS is 10 mos now. Sometimes he's sleeping, sometimes not. I did CIO with him around 6 mos and I was waking him up before putting him to bed.
Now, he goes right to sleep even if I put him down awake.

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
DS is 5 months and always falls asleep on the boob at night and I just transfer him into his crib while he is asleep. During the day, he doesn't usually fall asleep on me but sometimes does. If he doesn't and I want to put him down for a nap, I will rock him or put him in his swing.

At night, I try and put her in the crib when she's dozing. She'll cry for a minute or two and then go to sleep. She always passes out on the boob for naps, so I'm no help there.

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
If DS falls asleep BF i usually just put him down to sleep and don't wake him. When he dosn't fall asleep nursing he usually falls asleep on his own or cries for literally less than a minute when I leave the room. He has been a really good sleeper since he was born though so it may just come naturally to him. I DID go through a period a while back (prob when he was about 4 or 5 months) where I used to try to wake him before I put him down to sleep so that he didn't get used to nursing to sleep so I'm not sure if that helped. I wouldn't worry about it though, it's SO hard to wake them up when they are in that deep of a sleep. I can't even wake up DS to brush his teeth, he just won't budge!

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
Hey d. Sometimes s falls asleep. I don't wake him just put him in the sleep sack and put him in the crib. Sometimes he doesn't fall asleep and I obviously put him down awake. Sometimes he cries for a few and sometimes he doesn't. I go with the flow and it is 100% fine. At 9 months he was almost always falling asleepJ. For naps he is always awake when he goes down and usually cries for a few. C will learn to self soothe in time, I personally don't like the idea of waking a sleeping baby. At a year when you wean him you will have to start a new routine and he will adjust in due time!

DS coslept with us until 7.5 months. Then we did CIO. I would nurse him for 10 minutes and put him in the crib awake.
After 3 nights he adjusted and would just go to bed.

Re: BFing moms who have/had babies that fall asleep on the boob--some questions
I'm trying to stop this now because I'm afraid what it will mean when I stop BFing. At night, it's almost impossible. She's almost always falls asleep during our last feeding. Sometimes when I put her down, she wakes up and I'll let her put herself down to sleep. Or I'll try holding a paci in her mouth for a few minutes (she doesn't hold it in otherwise). We got into a habit of nursing before naps and I realized she needed it to dose off, so we've been working on not doing it. It means a little bit more crying before nap times, but I just rock her until she's really drowsy. Yesterday we had 3 successful naps that didn't involve me nursing her to sleep. I'm hoping we can keep it up.

Yea DS always falls asleep but for me its not a deep sleep. He only really slept for a long time off my milk once. (I have crappy supply)
When he does fall alseep I do try to put him down and he just wakes up. Everything I have read and experienced says that baby's fall asleep best when fed where you are putting them down. Although that is impossible when BF
