BFing moms who supplement
DS is almost 4 months and I need to start supplementing with formula because I can't keep up with the pumping now that I am back at work.
Do you have tips for introducing formula? The ped recommended Enfamil Lipil and I tried that and he would not take it. Then I tried Good Start (the green one- I can't remember the name ) and he wouldn't take that.
Anyone have any advice or what worked for you? Do I need to keep trying different kinds?
Thanks!

Good question, I'd like to know too!
I was also wondering what formula the former EBF moms went with....
Ya know, I wish I did what my friend Cindy did - right away, she would supplement with formula every night for the last feeding.

I am bfing and supplementing my son with 1-2 bottles of formula a day, we are currently using the enfamil lipil as that is what they gave us at the hospital but with my dd, we used enfamil AR (the red container) and it worked great

i EBF but i've heard that you should mix it to get baby used to the taste/so it doesn't upset their tummy. first 1/4 formula 3/4 BM, then 1/2 and 1/2, then 1/4 BM 3/4 formula.

have you tried half n half in a bottle then slowly increasing the formula so that DC gets used to it?

I tried that this afternoon and it worked. I did some research online and read that it is good to mix it for a few days. It worked today when I did it.
Thanks!

I EBF for 7 months before starting DD on Formula. I can HIGHLY recommend the Good Start Protect Plus. It was the one I asked my ped. about and she told me it was the closest to BM by far.
DD has been doing great with it!

Re: BFing moms who supplement
Thanks but last night was bad!
Liam was up every 2 hours or so. He was very fussy, arching his back, and very gassy. I gave him gripe water each time which usually helps. The first time he pooped which helped but then he was up again 2 hrs later. Then he was doing the same thing, he was up for an hour and let out a couple big toots and burps.
I don't know what to do. SHould I call my ped and ask about a different formula?

Re: BFing moms who supplement
We supplemented from Day one because DS was jaundice but I know when I switched from BM to regular milk we mixed the BM and the milk. Did you ask your ped about that? We used Enfamil Lipil

Re: BFing moms who supplement
You might want to try him on Similac or a read to feed formula. Hope Liam feels better. Riley had to be on Similac Sensitive because of the fussy and gassy issues.

Ped suggested Enfamil Lipil and he wouldn't take that at all.
