BFN from 3rd IUI - UPDATED

Chat Icon Does this mean I need to move into IVF? I feel so lost..... Where do I go? I see Dr Braverman, but I'm not sure if I should just move on to see someone else or not... Anybody knows anything about Dr Kofinas in Brooklyn? What about Cornell? I feel so totally lost.... What do you ladies think? Supposedly DH and I both have mild problems so I don't see how this should be so difficult Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Any advice is greatly appreciated Chat Icon
UPDATE:
Thank you so much ladies for all of your kind words Chat Icon I spoke to Dr B on Saturday morning over the phone and he wants to meet with me on Tuesday at 9:45 for a consultation about what we should be doing next, whether I need to move into IVF or not. This was a medicated IUI cycle, I produced 2 eggs with Follistim, Luveris and Ganirelix injections. He said that this cycle was intermediate in terms of how aggressive we were. I do trust Dr B a lot, it's just that my dissapointment is so much after each cycle that I just don't know what to do Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
Let's see what Tuesday brings Chat Icon
Thank you all, your kindness always means so much to me!

UPDATE:
So DH and I had our consultation with Dr B today, after 3 medicated IUIs and decided that the best way for us to go would be IVF with ICSI. If you had asked me a couple of months ago I would say that I'm not going down that route, but right now the only thing I care about is increasing our chances as much as possible to finally end up with a little one Chat Icon I'm not gonna hide that I'm very nervous about everything, and I know that it's going to be a lot of work, but our chances will be greattly increased Chat Icon Dr B was excellent in explaining everything as always, and told me that the IVF cycle will take in total 6 weeks, from the day that I start on the first medication (Lupron) until the day that I test for pregnancy. I was hesitating a lot in the begining to go with Dr B for the IVF because he doesn't do the actual retrieval and transfer, but now I'm thinking that as long as he is the one calling all the shots I will be in good hands, right? Now I have to wait for about 3 weeks until I start with my first medication....and this is exactly what kiils me all the time, the waiting, and waiting, and waiting...
Thanks so much for listening ladies Chat Icon

Re: BFN from 3rd IUI

Sorry to hear that y had another upset...were u doing medicated IUI's?
I dont think that u HAVE to move to IVF if you are not ready. See if you can up ur meds so u can maybe get better chances with the IUI.
I was actually else where and transfered to Dr. b and I think he is great and very thorough.. but thats ur call. A 2nd opinion wouldn't hurt if your starting to have doubts.

Oh Angel333...I'm sooo sorry! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

You have to do what you are comfortable with. When I asked Dr B when he recommends IVF (i think we had similar issues) he told me 80% of women get preg within 3 iuis...not to say it wont happen after though! So he said he would recommend IVF after 3 and if we were not ready we could go on with IUIs and change things up a bit (I am guessing meds?).

I am not sure what your situation is and where you are at. But if your gut is telling you to get another opinion or try with another doctor I would do that! And if you are not happy with them you could always go back to Dr. B.

Hey-

I go to Dr. B, and have had 4 failed IUI's, 2 with femara and ovidril, 2 with injectibles. I am also UnexplainedChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

After the 3rd, i pretty much lost all hope with IUIs but was still scared to move onto IVF, thinking it was the final frontier. But its really not. Obviously its a personal decision, but i knew for me it was time. I wanted better chances than the IUI gave me, plus I'm getting very close to that dreaded "35" age where they say it all goes down hillChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon so i knew i couldnt waste any more time.

It's a hard decision. Talk it over with Dr. B and your DH, and of course get a 2nd opinion if you want, cant hurt. Once you exhaust all your options you will feel better if you decide to move on, because you will know you did everything you could. Best of luck to you Chat Icon

Re: BFN from 3rd IUI

So sorry about your BFN. I just finished my 1st IVF cycle and it was a BFN as well. I do know that I wasn't ready to do IVF until a couple of months ago. It definitely takes time and you have to be ready. I think you should consult with Dr. B to go over stats, your options and meds. Are you doing a medicated IUI cycle? Whatever you decide, Dr. B will be there to help you, guide you, answer all your questions and get you pregnant! Lots of hugs to you and DH Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
Oh, BTW-Dr. Kofinas is a perinatologist in Garden City.

Re: BFN from 3rd IUI

Hey - don't give up hope just yet. I went to RSofNY in Stonybrook and I had 10 IUI's in total. Two IUI's were a natural cycle, 5 IUI's were with Clomid and three IUI's were with Gonal F. We finally got lucky on our last round of Gonal F with IUI. YOU never know. I was bummed out that cycle because I only produced one good follie at the time and my situation is a little different because I only have one tube to work with. It happened on that last cycle - the one that I lease expected it to work. I know how you feel. I wanted to go to a different doctor as well month after month after being disappointed but my husband begged me to stick it out and I did. Keep positive and never give up! Our baby girl was born on June 14th - she is our little miracle! :)

im so sorry.
i dont think you NEED to switch to IVF, unless you want to. what does dr. b have to say about it?? as long as you are comfortable with him and his plans for you, i dont think you need to change REs, but i could understand if you wanted a second opinion as well, it never hurts.

i do think you should meet with dr. b and discuss with him, and then make your decision. good luck!!! no matter how you get there, it will happen!!!!!! dont give up!!!!!!!!!!

My suggestion to anyone, is it never hurts to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion.

When I started, I got a total of 3 opinions and then chose my RE. All of them had a different thought process and protocal in mind. So it never hurts and then it may be good to just reassure you that Dr. B is the best for you!!
