Re: BIG Yankee Weekend
I thought you all might what to know what will happen if the weekend ends with teams having a tied record.
Any one-game tiebreakers would be scheduled for Monday, Oct. 3, with times to be determined. Here's where each tiebreaker matchup would take place:
American League East: Boston at New York Wild card: • New York at Cleveland • Cleveland at Boston NOTE: If three clubs finish the season with the same winning percentage and one team will be a division winner and another will be the wild card, the games will be played as follows: The two teams tied for the division lead will play the one-game tiebreaker, with the winner being declared the division champion. The losing team will then play the club from the other division for the wild card.

Re: BIG Yankee Weekend
Weekend pitching matchups:
Wang vs. Wells
Johnson vs. Wakefield
Mussina vs. Schilling
If I am a Yanks fan... I am not thrilled with this matchups since this is probably the best matchup Boston could have asked for.
Wang vs. Wells will be a complete slugfest. Whoever belts the biggest hits wins this game.
Johnson vs. Wakefield does not bode well for the Yanks. They would have been better off if Johnson went against Schilling or Wells because if Wakefield's knuckler has movement... Johnson can very well waste a quality start here.
Mussina vs. Schilling is also a huge question mark. Schilling will either flop... or he will go "bloody" nuts on the Yankee hitters.
Should be a very interesting series.
If I was a Yanks fan... i would have preferred Johnson to face Schilling and Mussina to face Wakefield. But thats just me.

What's the pitching matchup for Monday? It could come down to a one game playoff - if the Sox take two of three.

Bedda...ya just love to dig don't you.
This weekend is a VERY stressful weekend for the Yankee fans. And to make a dig like that is just sooo unnecessary. ESPECIALLY ON THIS THREAD. This was a pro-Yankee thread and your comment was just completely unnecessary.
But then again if i were in your shoes i guessi would jealous like you are....I mean to know that your team did ok all season, brought your hopes up kinda high there for a moment must be truly sad for you. I mean really the METS really went down the toilet like a long hard piece of sh!t. So much so that you just stand there in utter disgust and disbelief. JUST LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO.....SAME TEAM DIFFERNT YEAR
So i see you are jealous and depressed and just plain pathetic that you need to put ANY damper on our pride and good cheer for our AMAZING team. Our team that is doing WONDERFUL as your little orange men who can only watch on tv what they only wish they could be actually DOING.
So i end this post with a common MET TAG LINE
THERE IS ALWAYS NEXT YEAR
yea riiiiiiiight

GO YANKEES!!
They are hitting the ball tonight, just a matter of time before they start capitalizing on those hit and hitting them to the right spots.
Oh and just top add...I think Boston is the sloppiest looking team in the majors and really need to learn what a razor and bar of soap are as well as clothing that fits.
Happy Baseball all!!!!

How did I miss this??
OMG Red...
Please note that I have NOTHING against 99.9% of the METS fans.... in fact, my DH is a Mets fan, most of my best friends are MEts fans.. and I appreciate the fact they love and support their team. My main "beef" is not with THEM nor their loyalties to their team
I doubt that RED nor any of us Yankee fans direct this above commentary at the TRUE METS FANS out there BUT some of those "OTHER" Mets fans (Bedda).. who seem to feel the need to ALWAYS post unnecessary comments on PRO-YANKEE threads (Bedda)....even when the Yankee fans of this board have NOT commented at ALL on the METS this year ... well then, all bets are off and it beomes another story entirely
Bedda -- you asked for it .. that's all I'm sayin' '

JUST LIKE THEY ALWAYS DO.....SAME TEAM DIFFERNT YEAR
Actually.... the Mets are already 11 games better than they did last year. So they definitely aren't the same team as last year.
If they do the same next year... that will pretty much guarantee them a playoff spot.

Looks like they didn't.
Bedda, what is your problem? Why can't you just leave a pro yankee thread alone for once?
DJPill- Before today's game I agreed with you about the matchups. I thought they should save Johnson for the season ender no matter who he was going against. But Joe wanted his pitchers on normal rest. In the end it worked out fine.
And now the Yankees are starting Wright tomorrow and saving moose for game 1. Probably the right call to make.

Re: BIG Yankee Weekend
First of all, I want to wish the Yankee fans the best of luck, celebrate the big win today and enjoy the playoffs. It’ll be an exciting ride for sure. Alot of great teams represented here.
In reading this thread, I want to address 2 points. First of all, I want to thank bedda for giving us another prime example of the fact that she sorely lacks common sense. This was a “Yankee” thread to discuss the team’s involvement in the pennant race this weekend. If this was a general “baseball” thread, or you were a Red Sox fan, I might see the relevance of you doing this. But, with you being a Met fan, coupled with the fact that this was a Yankee thread on a “New York” board, where no Red Sox fan would even be here to back you up, unless you are REALLY dumb (which I am starting to wonder), you knew that your comment would ruffle feathers. But, in the end, I think that’s what you wanted in the first place. I think you get off on stuff like that.
You know, I used to make the claim that you were not a real fan because you latched on to teams that your husband rooted for. Well, I am changing my opinion. You’re not a real fan, because you don’t know what a real fan is. A real fan:
1. Vocally roots for their team, when there is a reason to root for them, in situations that involve them. In case you didn’t notice, the Mets are out. So there is nothing further for you to say. Time for you to step aside. To bash the Yankees when the Mets aren’t even involved is rude, obnoxious and stupid.
2. Roots for a team based on talent. I notice that all of the players that you root for (Beltran, Wright) are your favorites because “they are hot”. Yeah, that’s a good reason.
3. Doesn’t play victim when attacked, especially when you’re just as guilty, if not more so than everyone else. The ironic thing is that you went into this whole tirade about how upset you and your husband got when your BIL bashed the Mets. You said the attack was unwarranted and that it really got under your husband’s skin. Funny how you initiate the same stuff here and just don’t “get” why people get annoyed with you.
So, because of your idiocy, people like me, people like Boosh, people like dengal, people like Rich and people like Jax have to sit and watch you get your head ripped off and at the same time, we have to endure these verbal attacks against the Mets. And the sad thing, is that it could have all been avoided if you just had a little common sense.
As for Red’s comments, all I will say is that they were unfortunate. I didn’t like them, I sure as heck didn’t appreciate them, and I do think that they were a tad over-the-top and it wasn’t really necessary to retaliate quite in that manner. But, I understand that when someone comes on and does something like that unannounced and unprovoked, it gets you a little nuts, so I understand why it happened, even though I didn’t appreciate the comments.
In closing, I think I’m going to steer clear of the Home Team board going forward. The more we try to make an amicable environment for all fans, the more one person (bedda) goes out of their way to ruin it. So congrats bedda, you wanted to throw this board into a farce and you are succeeding. I get into enough arguments with family members over this crap and I don’t need anymore of it on LIF. Especially when I have much more important things going on, and these guys aren’t putting any money in my pocket.
I’ve said my peace, best of luck once again, and for all the sports fans out there, enjoy yourselves and root hard for your teams. There’s nothing like it.

Re: BIG Yankee Weekend
yay Don.
...and for the record, i Wright for many more reasons than just his hotness ----- he told me I have great eyes, and I think he always gives 110%. You gotta respect that.
Just to make a general point to SOMEONE who feels it necessary to bash the Yankees - just because I am a Mets fan doesn't mean i'm anti-Yankees. I respect good baseball, and the Yanks seem to have that going for them right now.
grow up..
(lol- and that's coming from one of the board babies! hahaha)

Well... Wakefield had no moving knuckler... and that means he gets crushed.
The Yankees are playing it by the book to not start Moose tomorrow. However... a small part of me actually disagrees with this.
Its kinda like they are throwing this game away. With a Boston loss tomorrow and a Cleveland win... that forces a BOS/CLE wildcard playoff game which could eliminate Boston from the playoffs entirely.
I think the Yanks would LOVE to see Boston not make it and IMO they should go for the jugular on this one.
But on the other hand the Yanks can't face Boston in the 1st round anyways... so Boston would very well get eliminated by Chicago or Anaheim.
