Re: Bill and Melinda Gates getting divorced
From an article I read:
In terms of their relationship, Bill and Melinda Gates said they no longer saw a path toward growing together.

Bill and Melinda Gates getting divorced
I just don't see the point at their age unless they really hate each other

She’s 56 and he is 65. Still pretty young. Why stay married if you are not happy no matter what age you are?

It's probably a lot easier when you are one of the richest people in the world...
Otherwise, I think "normal" people would generally stay together without having to go through the hassle at that age to split up assets, pensions, etc..

56 means maybe another 20 + years of being with someone you don’t want to because of splitting up assets? I think that is ridiculous honestly as that is only a few years off from my age and I don’t feel old and “done” with life that I would sacrifice my happiness over that. They can afford the best lawyers and probably already have discussed this before announcing the divorce.

I agree with this sentiment.
My parents are in their early 60s and neither is happy. Both complain about each other nonstop and not about little things like how my DH does not put the toilet seat down - LOL. I have told them both to seek counseling - individually and as a couple. They share no common interests except their children/grandchildren. This should honestly be the best time of their lives, where they can travel and do whatever they want, but instead they are stuck in some type of purgatory.
Meanwhile, my ILs are traveling everywhere and living their best lives.

Awww yeah that is sad. We look forward to the kids moving out and getting to do more things together lol. I don’t think people should stay together for the kids or because they are “old”. If you are not happy then why have to live that way for any reason?

If you think in terms of money and if one spouse is more well off than the other (can often happen), they would not want to stop their pension etc. Lawyer bills also get expensive and it’s probably a cost that one would not want to risk at that age.
Divorce can cause financial ruin and it’s probably much easier for those that have money. I was listening to some podcast that pointed out statistics of this and why people hold on because of this reason. The Gates have billions. They can be happy/comfortable more easily than “normal” people.
I’m sure if many people on here learned they were getting divorced soon, they would definitely take their financial situation into account and think twice about it.

Nope not me and I have been married a million years lol. While I would love to have their money to see how happy I was with it, lol, if I was unhappy in the relationship, I couldn’t just live with someone the rest of my life because of the money.

Fair enough. I’m kind of speaking from personal experience, so there’s that.

Re: Bill and Melinda Gates getting divorced
i just read a headline that melinda started talking to an attorney right after word came out about a connection between bill and epstein.
wonder how much truth there is to the implication of that headline.
