Bio Physicals
We've been having issues of doodlebug not moving as much as everyone would like her to (spent some time in L&D almost 2 weeks ago where they shocked my belly and still not much of a response but enough not to admit me).
At the non-stress test this past Monday my OB still wasn't happy with her movement even after giving us stimulants to get her moving so he sent us for a bio physical on Thursday.
We did not get any results yesterday and have to wait for Monday.
Do I find out what her scores were or just that everything will be okay or to get another test done?

Re: Bio Physicals
I had biophysicals every week tha last 4 (5!) weeks of my pregnancy. The Dr. always told me the results at the time of the BPP. There are 5 parts to the test, and you score 1 or 2 on each part, so the max is a 10. Did they tell you what they were testing? I
Each of the five components — body movements, muscle tone, breathing movements, amniotic fluid, and heartbeat — is assigned a score of either 0 (abnormal) or 2 (normal). These scores are added up for a total score ranging from 0 to 10. In general, a total score of 8 or 10 is normal, 6 is considered borderline, and below 6 is worrisome.
Then we always monitored the heartbeat and movement for 20 minutes after the u/s.

My OB told me they would tell me the results but the technician said she wasn't allowed to. She seemed concerned that she wasn't moving (even had me hold my breath which gave her the hiccups). But never could we get out of her any type of answer of what her scores were - they'll call my OB. We did go to Madonna in Mineola

Re: Bio Physicals
Humm...I had a biophysical done on Thursday, and the nurse gave us the results right then and there. She did ask us to do kick counts and provided us a piece of paper to record his activity. She also gave us a biophysical score sheet where she wrote 8/8. She did not do the NST which is the last 2 points. My obgyn was not happy that she did not do the NST so Friday I went to the hospital for the NST and was able to record movement that they were looking for.

Re: Bio Physicals
My BPP was always done by my OB so -- he gave the results immediately. Maybe the tech isn't authorized to interpret the information.

Re: Bio Physicals
I'm wondering if I didn't get the results because it wasn't done by a nurse - only a technician
They can be sure I'll be hounding them for the numbers now on Monday! Thank you ladies!

Re: Bio Physicals
I had weekly bio physicals for a good few months and they ( the sono tech) would tell me right then and there if he "passed"..
She would say" Noah passed"...Or b/c I had such an issue with high amniotic fluid...she would say " you failed, but only b/c your fluid is too high today but the baby did great"...so I would know why I failed.
I would ask them if you ahve another one straight out and if you want the results, ask what the number was. Although pass/fail is really all that matters and like I said above, Fail doesnt always mean anything bad.

Did you go to Madonna? I wonder why the tech told me she couldn't give me any info? We were being sent because of lack of movement and when I asked her how the baby's breathing was she said they don't always check each thing???? Then what the heck was the point of the bio? Wouldn't checking her breathing coincide with checking her movements?

Re: Bio Physicals
I had them every week at the end of my pregnancy. The tech would do the test and then the dr would come in at the end, check again and let me know the results

Thats weird. BUT I went to the Babylon Madonna office, which is small and I was "friends" with everyone there b/c I was there twice a week or more etc.....
But she never failed to tell me. And the "practice breathing" is or BETTER be checked every time. Its part of the BP...And it only takes what 2.2 seconds to check?
I would mention what she said to your Dr. I dont like it one bit...
Mayeb they didnt want to scare you or soemthing?
Now that I think about it....They didnt tell me much at the beginning either, it was more or less once I was a "Regular".
I wouldnt worry at all, if it was serious, your Dr owuld have called ya already./
NO WORRIES!!!!!!! I bet she passed with flying colors!
