Birkenstocks
So should I jump on the band wagon? I like something that has a bit of a heel..cannot do real flat...i have fairly wide feet..i do not like too much of a break in period.
Any particular model that might work?

Re: Birkenstocks
Thank you - this is what happens when I try to do anything from my phone and not my laptop!!
Yes Birks have become trendy the past couple of summers but I am late to the party!

There's a birkenstock bandwagon?
On a commune in Vermont perhaps?

I’m not a fan of them. I don’t mind them too much on cute little feet. My big bird feet would look ridiculous in them.

Re: Birkenstocks
I bought the Birkenstock Mayari Sandal a few months ago and they are amazingly comfortable and supportive. They have different styles now that are more “fashionable”.

I bought these last summer and really liked them. But I'm a true 9-1/2. And they didn't fit right. The 9-9-1/2 is more of a 9 and the 10-10-1/2 were way too big. So I had to return them.

Same here! Had no idea there was a bandwagon! Thankfully the bandwagon isn't anywhere near why I live!

If they are in fact a trend, there are going to be a whole lot of hipsters seriously pissed off that women from LI are wearing their shoes.
Go for it OP. Go for it hard.

I don't care if Jackie O herself came back from the dead and said- Birkenstocks are now a fashion trend. I still wouldn't wear them. They have to kill any sense of sex appeal you might have. Sorry

Re: Birkenstocks
I am in the minority here, have been wearing them for 35 years or so. My favorite is Gizeh, a thong style, as an alternative to flip flops which I cannot wear except as a pool or beach shoe. I used to wear Arizona, the double strap, but they do seem "geekier" and more masculine. I wear Boston, a closed clog style, in the colder months.

Re: Birkenstocks
Not my thing. I have one friend who wears them with the baggiest of pants and flowy shirts and looks like she got off a commune. I have another friend that wears them with skinny jeans cute tops and looks adorable.

DH's friend and his wife were over this weekend and the wife was wearing the thong style Birkenstocks with skinny jeans. She's about 5 years younger than me and approximately 4lbs, so she could wear a potato sack and look decent.
She looked ridiculous. Every time I glanced at her feet I remembered the bandwagon and started laughing.

Listen, if Hugh Hefner's slippers with no back and lined in fur are a "thing" now, then nothing shocks me. The sheep run deep.

Re: Birkenstocks
I’ve liked them forever! They’re pretty good for your feet, too. I never bought any because I don’t think they make ones without leather, but maybe now that they’re more popular, they do? Gonna check it out.

But you’re not wearing them because they’re trendy, you’re wearing them because you like them. She was most certainly wearing them as a trend.
You’re the trendsetter here, not the sheep
