Birthday parties at a kids place-- question about paper goods, etc
DD's 4th b-day party is at a gymnastics place. They provide all the paper goods, etc. All the other kids' parties at kids places we've been to, they use what's provided.
Is it crazy or over-the-top if I buy theme plates, napkins, tablecloths? It would be just those things (and some balloons).

I'd opt to use what's provided and throw the money into something else...like the goodie bags

ditto. When the place we used gave me invites to send out I used their invites rather than the ones that matched the theme. I think the place I am going to use this year gives out plates too so I will give out a better goody bag.

You probably should use what's provided, but I am all about the theme so I would bring my own too

Same here. If you wanted to do a theme or something do a decoration that doesn't get thrown out in 2 seconds.

I'm thinking about this-if their paper products are plain or solid colors (not a competing them), I would use them and then get the theme balloons and stuff like that to bring in the theme.
For DD's birthday, I think I'm getting plain, solid color plates and cups but buying the theme balloons and banner.

I was thinking about this too - just use what they supply. The kids don't even pay attention to whats on the plate.

Re: Birthday parties at a kids place-- question about paper goods, etc
We had a thomas theme and got thomas plates and napkins for the kids. We used the plain ones the place provided for adults. Paper products were cheap. I think it was only an extra $20 or so. I did pay another $75 for extra thomas balloons.

Re: Birthday parties at a kids place-- question about paper goods, etc
honestly- the kids don't notice- they are so busy having fun w/ the activity and enjoying each other's company that they don't even notice the paper plates or the napkins.
as the owner of a party place- I always accommodate when a parent wants to bring in their own plates, napkins, etc... but it is easier if we have it a few days in advance as we preset before the party starts...
