birthday parties in cold weather months
Definitely a little early for me to be thinkiing about this but just curious if you have a small home, where do you have your DC first birthday party during the winter months. I really don't think the number of people I would have would be able to fit in my house! guess there is always mil of my parents but boy that would create other issues

Re: birthday parties in cold weather months
I rented a hall at our local Irish Club for a minimal fee, they gave us the use of their bar (cash bar with a barmaid) their sound system, and their kitchen. Another year we rented the church hall where we have our playgroup, they also let us use all the playgroup toys.

Re: birthday parties in cold weather months
We have a cape that isn't huge...but what we did was have the basement set up for the kids...and they played mostly down there...and most of the adults were in our living room and kitchen...some were playing ball with kids outside...this was in November. We fit a good amount of people spread out in our house.

Re: birthday parties in cold weather months
We had DS's 1st b-day in a church hall. We had the option of using our house of MIL's house or BIL's house but, we had close to 100 people plus entertainment and everything else. The hall was so much easier.

We are either having it at a restaurant or the local village center.

I've been thinking about this also. Rylan is 3/28 so it's still to cold to do outside and my place is to small.

Re: birthday parties in cold weather months
ive been thinking about this also..DD 1st bday is jan 2 so way too cold for anything outside...with just immediate family its atleast 17ppl (which i know isnt a lot to most ppl but for us that is) so if we add in our close friends to that its around 30ppl (again i know not a lot to most of you lol)
so with 30 or more ppl i am at a loss of where to have it...my parents is out cause MIL would get her nose out of joint...MILs house is out cause DH real dad wont go...what a mess

Re: birthday parties in cold weather months
I've been having the same dilemma. My apartment could never fit the number of people that I'm inviting. I need to buy a house.

Re: birthday parties in cold weather months
We are going to do our DD's 1st birthday at a restaurant. It will be in January and even though our apt has a finished basement where people can hang out...we just don't have the space for all the people we're inviting.
