Birthday Situation Help Needed (little long)

My best friend turns 30 next month- she is single and her family will be away over her b-day weekend.

I reached out to them, asked if they were planning anything, b/c if not, I wanted to throw her a get together.

Turns out that her Mom REALLY REALLY wants to have a party for her (way out east on LI) but is open to suggestions from her SIL and myself. They've both asked me to provide honest feedback.

Now, I know that she prefers a party in NYC (where she lives) and that all of our friends who are scattered btwn NJ and NY metro area would be more open to coming.

I don't want to hurt their feelings but know what would get the best attendance and make my BF happy.

Would you be honest w/the Mom?? She's fragile and gets offended easily....

i would be honest with the mother. tell her what your friend would really want

I would do what the birthday girl would want - the party is not about the mother.

If she gives you push-back, you can always say that your friend "really wanted to spend her 30th in the city".
