Birthing/Breastfeeding videos
I'm thinking DH and I will save the money and just watch DVDs in place of birthing classes.
I see that Laugh & Learn about Childbirth seems to be the main choice. Any other recommendations?
How about breastfeeding?
I already have Happiest Baby on the Block...that's about it.
Thanks!

Re: Birthing/Breastfeeding videos
Sorry, I am lurking.
But I wanted to recommend "The Womanly Art Of Breastfeeding" as far as a book of reference. It is published by the LaLeche League. And I found it so helpful in the beginning of BFing.

Re: Birthing/Breastfeeding videos
Thanks! I'll definitely check out that book!
I'm hoping my library can get me a copy of the Laugh & Learn video...there's only one area library that carries it and it's checked out.
Any other recs?

Re: Birthing/Breastfeeding videos
I got the L&L about childbirth from my library (2007 edition) and I liked it! I now have on request the L&L about breastfeeding so I cannot review that yet! But I did enjoy the instructor of the series so I'm hopeful. Good luck!

Re: Birthing/Breastfeeding videos
T- I loved the L&L Breastfeeding. It was short (like 30 minutes) and hit all the high points. How and when to feed, schedule, how to hold the baby, pumping and what to do when you get engorged/mastatis.
Easy peasy to watch and they have actual nursing moms show you how to do it so you know what a good latch looks like and how to break the seal, etc...

I also loved a show i tivo'd and have been watching as i pass the trimestsers - but i just saw it on my library's list:
Pregnancy For Dummies
It's broken down by trimester and then first few months (of a newborn's life).

Re: Birthing/Breastfeeding videos
u want a birthing video?? my MIL just bought me "from conception to birth" and i got really ******. why??
b/c we specifically said no gifts (as not many pple know yet) and she's already sent a box of gifts to our house..so when she handed this to me she said it "wasnt a gift." Doesn't know how to respect boundaries it seems...
2nd...im not watching any videos of giving birth..that's scary and quite honestly i just want to go in, get my epidural, and be on my way. Everyone's birth is different and i dont need to subject myself to a video with some screaming mimi to scare the bejesus out of me.
breastfeeding videos..thats different.
will i educate myself on the birthing process and what i should expect...yes...but i'd rather read about it..LOL
sorry that was a long rant..
