Bizarre question -does your DC like hitting his head?

Jack is so strange - sometimes when he is mad before he takes a nap he will sit there and bang the back of his head against the crib. I think he thinks he is ultimately hurting me lol!

Then, the other night he was in the bath and hit his head on accident. He then proceeded to do it one more time just for the hell of it I guess.

Is this something they do out of frustration you think? He wasn't frustrated in the bath - so that was weird to me.

Is this normal - or is my kid a future headbanger in the making?!

My nephew was this way. He used to scare me when I watched him bc he would bang his head if he didnt get his way. He has since stopped and is a normal 3.5 year old.

Not happening here (yet) but I do remember reading several posts on here over the years that other kids go through that stage.

Yes. Bella will do this from time to time. She'll hit her head on the wall, then do it again and realize "Oh, that hurts"

Then when she gets frustrated or mad when I tell her "NO!" instead of hitting me she'll head butt me.

LMAO..they are so alike. Noah had a period where he did it often. NOW, when he does it on accident, he will cry, and then DO it again and again on purpose( like on the wall, chair, where ever he hit he head!) ... I asked the Ped twice about it. And Twice she said it was totally normal. Its a sensation thing.

a few weeks ago jonah had an episode where he hit his head against the door a few times, just for kicks. not hard, but i couldn't help but look at him like, what on earth are you doing???

i'm actually relieved to hear that other people's kids have done this... because i was a little weirded out

Both my kids used to do it - it was a phase just like the 1000's of others. With all the new things they've been doing lately I actually miss that one

My son does it to be funny....he doesn't do it when hes mad....only when he wants to make people laugh...and he laughs right along with them....he hits it so hard sometimes, but will just laugh..

yes, my DD wil hit herself in the head over and over. usually if she wants something. I asked her dr and she said it's nothing to worry about.

DS likes making a fist and hitting himself on the head. Either that or trying to pull his hair out. He only does this when he's tired during feeding though...
