Hitting head and crawling/walking, how do you prevent it?
If you had hard wood floors or tile floors, how did you keep your newly crawling/walking baby from banging his head? I try to keep him on the area rug but he is constantly crawling off it onto the floors. Someone mentioned I should get the styrofoam floor puzzle and playyard for in my den but I know he will not want to stay in there. Even if I sit with him while he is on the floor, he is all over the place and sometime he loses his balance and clunks his head in a split second, faster than I can grab him. I know it is normal during this stage but I feel like he is bumping his head almost every day Am I doing something wrong?
ETA: I wish I could just carpet my den but it is attached to my kitchen so I can't. I know baby's bump there heads all the time on the floor when they are learning to crawl and walk, but on carpet at least it is padded a little. I am really upset about this.

We had the same problem. It seemed like my poor DS was always getting hurt. But he survived! Seriously, I think babies will find a way to get hurt anywhere! They always seem to find the one hard corner or spot to fall on.

we have 1 rug and its in the master bedroom the rest of the house is wood floor with the exception of the bathrooms and kitchen are tile.
DD's just falls, what can you do. You know what really helped her gain her confidence, my mother got her the WINGS and they are great! She is walking all on her own now. DD also learned I dont know how when she falls back she will not let her head hit the ground, she did once and she never did it again. Dont worry they will learn. edited to say we dont have area rugs either- I have a runner in our hallway and thats it.
