Bizarre question: If your DC has ear tubes, can you see them in there?

Derek just had tubes put in last month. I always check his ears because he always has a lot of guck draining. In one ear I could literally see the tube sitting in there. I dont know if it is because the tube is falling out or because babies done have deep ear canals yet (I know they change as they grow)?

Has this happened to anyone? I fear it is falling out

ETA: He hasn't even had his follow-up appt. yet. His 3 week follow-up is Thursday.

But I do put ear plugs in so in a way I see her ears but no I dont see her tubes.

However, she had an ear infection immediately after they were put in. Bad enough that it was 'pushing' the tube out. It was the last ear infection she's had (Tubes put in back January).

I didn't know about the 'pushing out' until her check up visit. If it worries you, you may want to get a photo and email it to the doc or call them up and describe what you see in case you may need to go in earlier.

I never really looked, but I don't think you can see them. Now, I'm going to look when she wakes up!

I dont think you should see them unless you are using that instrument that they look in with the light. DD had hers put in January, never seen it but also never stared in her ears. LOL she has a slight blockage now and dr said it was clogged still cant see the tube though and have to see if it is going to go away on its own or take out to unclog and do the surgery again
