Question for moms with DC that have ear tubes
My DD first got tubes when she was 20 months old after numerous ear infections (15+) and some hearing loss due to fluid. She is on her second set. She had the second set put in this summer and one already fell out and she has an infection. I can not tell you how much $$$ this has cost me and I don't understand why they keep falling out.
So if you have a DC with tubes have you had to do the procedure several times? how long did they last?
I'm using a very well respected ENT - he said it's primarily due to the fact that they drain alot and the shape of her ear. They will try a "t" tube next. I guess it anchors better or something. I really don't want to do this again for many reasons!! But what choice do I have.

Re: Question for moms with DC that have ear tubes
My kids dont have tubes although it may be in our future but I know my DH had to get them 3 times when he was younger and a few of my cousins got them twice. They fall out because they are growing and their ear canals change shape.
When they fall out does your DC get ear infections again? Maybe talk to your ENT about seeing what happens without them.
ETA: Sorry I just re-read your post that it fell out and she already has another infection.
I would definetely talk to your ENT. Three times does seem a bit excessive to me! I definetely would not be happy either.

Re: Question for moms with DC that have ear tubes
Abby has tubes. They were put in when she was 10 months. Different doctors put in different types of tubes. The kind that Abby has, theoretically, should not fall out. Abby had her follow up two weeks ago and everything is perfect.

Re: Question for moms with DC that have ear tubes
AJ gets her first set on Friday
I have had them put in me more times than I can actually remember. Seriously, I know that I can remember at least three times but my father says I had more than that.
Mostly they'd fall out on their own too early. They finally got one that wouldnt but it also didnt fall out when it should either and they had to 'go in and get it' which was not fun.
They said the same. The shape of my left ear is 'different' and not 'average'. But I do have middle ear deafness. It is not because of the infections or tubes tho, its genetic.
But basically we just went through it time and time again, with infections, painful drops, suction to get out clogs, etc. *sigh*
