Blackberry, IPhone, Droid etc
I have a simple old cell phone. I do have a texting package but that is more because DH can hardly call and we have to text to communicate during the day. Although I'm an internet junky I just can't justify the added monthly expense for a smart phone. Almost everyone I know has one. I'm curious those who have these devices, why did you get it?

This is me right now. They do amazing things but how much do I need one? I mostly want a phone with a full keyboard (I don't even have that now...lol) and I'd love to be able to take pictures and upload them to somewhere easily.

We both got BBs during the buy one get one sale.
We were headed abroad and knew that BB worked globally with no issues
We also wanted it to download the application for being abroad and navigating stuff.

Re: Blackberry, IPhone, Droid etc
I have my own business, I wanted the ability to respond to important emails when away from a computer.
I also like having the latest gadgets, but if I could not afford the monthly fee I would NOT have upgraded to a smart phone.
DH still has a regular cellphone, doesn't even have a test messaging plan. He has no real interest in it, and has an ipod touch that I got him as a birthday present. He uses that to browse the internet when in range of a wifi connection, so there is no monthly fee on that.

Re: Blackberry, IPhone, Droid etc
Neither me nor my DH have one. With the amount the data plan costs, I just do not think it is worth it. (Of course, I do not have texting for the same reason).

Re: Blackberry, IPhone, Droid etc
When we moved, it was really helpful b/c of the GPS and other apps; I have an iPhone. It made moving to a new country so much easier. I can do so much with it- it helps with directions, train schedules, German-English dictionary, I can rent a bike anywhere in the city (I use this every day as I don't have a car or a bike), I can IM friends back home, etc.
We don't pay that much b/c it is under my husband's business plan and he gets a free BB through work.
