Blackberry Question
Is the $29.99 monthly data plan mandatory on the Blackberry Pearl?
I really only want it to Sync to my Outlook Calendar and to make "To-Do" lists. I don't want to Sync email to it. I don't want to be THAT accessible
Thanks in advance!!!

Re: Blackberry Question
You don't need the data plan. The data plan will allow you to send/receive emails. Like you stated, if it's only for your Outlook contacts and calendar, then you can just plug it in the PC and run the Desktop Application.

Great thanks!
My Verizon Rep at work said that the equipment "requires" a data plan of $29.99 / month so I wasn't sure if you HAD to get the data plan to make the phone functional.

Re: Blackberry Question
I think you have to do at least one month of the data plan and then you can cancel

The reps are always going to make it seem like you "have" to have the data plan. It's a big push in all the stores to sell it. If it's not free for a month, they can't force you to take it. If you don't get it, you won't be able to use the email function. And if you access the web, you will probably get charged casual data charges to use it.

Re: Blackberry Question
Dh and I just got the blackberry curve on Sunday. No you don't need the data plan, and with the curve, we have free wifi. The phone was more expensive, but worth it.We have T mobile so it might be different.
