Bleeding Belly Button- Please Read!!

Hello!! My son's umbilical cord fell off Tuesday afternoon. Ever since then, I have noticed dried up blood on his belly button when I change him.

I wash if off and the next time I change him, it is there again.

Is this normal? I am getting a little concerned?

Has anyone else's DC had the same problem??

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I would give it another day unless it's a lot of blood. It could be that it didn't dry up completely.

I would, however, wait to give him a full bath. I would continue to give him sponge baths.Chat Icon

it's pretty normal.. it probably got ripped off a little too early by him moving in the diaper.. if you smell a foul smell or if the bleeding becomes worse where it's actively bleeding bright red blood i would call the ped.

Yeah I am going to see how it is tomorrow. If it is still bleeding, I will call the ped.

Thanks for your help!!

DD had the same thing when hers fell off the other week. I was also concerned, but my mom said its pretty normal, it went away after a few days.
