Blood Infection? -Hemotologist?
Has anyone ever seen a hemotologist?
My mom's bloodwork all came back negative for arthritis, and her docotor is recommending her seeing a hemotologist.
Has anyone seen one? Can you recommend one?
Her only symptom is severe swelling in her knees. They are filled with fluid and making her joints very tight, and making her unable to be able to walk many times. The only thing that seems to work is a cortizone shot or prednisone. But once it is finished, it comes right back...
Please let me know if you know anything!
Thanks!

Re: Blood Infection? -Hemotologist?
I have a hematologist in NYC that I can recommend. Is that too far for your mom?
As for her symptoms, when you mention that she tested negative for "arthritis," do you mean she was tested for the rheumatoid factor and that came up negative? If so, I would still recommend seeing a rheumatologist on the chance that she has a form of autoimmune arthritis that doesn't show up on a rheumatoid factor test - there are a few types of arthritis that won't yield a positive rheumatoid factor.
Good luck to your mom! I hope she feels better!

I had to see a hematologist while I was pregnant for a blood disorder.
