Blood test and insurance
Before DH and I started trying my dr sent me for prenatal blood tests that you get before you start trying. I called my insurance company and they said the tests were fully covered. I got slammed with a bill from Empire for $2200. It seemed that my dr office put in thr wrong codes and they said they would resubmit it with the correct codes. Fast forward almost a month later, I get another bill from Empire which was exactly the same as the first and a bill from Quest for $800. Has anyone else had problems like this? re people usually covered or did I get the wrong info?

Re: Blood test and insurance
It depends on the tests and what you insurance covers. If it's routine stuff a gyno would run, it should be covered. It's possible that the dr put in the wrong diagnostic codes still. I'd call the dr.

Re: Blood test and insurance
I did call the dr and they said they would change the codes and resubmit it. That was when I got the exact same bill from Empire and a bill from Quest in a different amount. I just hope it all was totally covered since Empire said it was.

Re: Blood test and insurance
I would just call the ins co at this point. Maybe they can tell you why. Maybe the Dr still didnt put the code in right. Especially since they said it was covered. Insurance companies are the WORST! They add more stress to TTC than there needs to be. Part of the problem is that there are so many different plans and all different things are covered. Dr. offices get them all mixed up (at least this is what I have found)

I agree with the pp that you should contact the insurance company to find out what's going on. I would suspect that it's because Empire only covers certain labs. I have had tests done at LabCorp, but the messed up so now I use LIJ Labs instead.
