Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
How many girls have a had a blood test to confirm you are pregnant? My husband thinks I should get one in addition to the home pregnancy test just to make sure that it is positive.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
I didn't have a blood test. I did take 4 at home pregnancy tests though...all positive .
I went to the doctor a week later and he did an internal sonogram that confirmed the pregnancy.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
usually an OB will check with a urine test unless you are having bleeding or issues-then they will do a beta test within 2 days to make sure your hcg is rising correctlt and it is a viable pregnancy. Tell your hubby a line is a line. Actually most drug store tests are MORE sensitive than the ones at the Doc anyway

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
I never got a blood test. Just a sono to confirm a viable pregnancy.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
As soon as I called my OB to tell them I got a positive HPT they had me come in for a beta. They waited a few days and took a 2nd beta to make sure my levels were doubling.
I had a sono and all standard/genetic bloodwork done a few weeks later

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
I had a blood test but then again I did IVF and they were constantly monitoring my blood for hormone levels. It's standard to confirm with a blood test for IVF.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
I had a negative urine test at the doctors office so they did a blood test and confirmed. Didn't get a BFP on a home test till a couple of days later (I was checking because I didn't believe it).

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
I had a blood test. That was the first thing the dr. did to see if I was pg. Then he did the sono to find out how far along I was because the levels were very high.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
I had a blood test. I had taken 5 HPT that were all positive, but I felt more at ease knowing the hormone was really in my blood.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
No blood test. I had 3 positive HPTs and they said "That pretty much confirms it". I went in about a week later for an internal sono to confirm.

Re: Blood Test to confirm Pregnancy
If you did get a positive then most likely you are pregant because the hormone is present in your urine. I suggest that you call your doctor, tell them that you took a test and they will do a test (may be blood - may not be) and then they will do an internal and a sono.
I took two tests but I'm still in denial so I'm waiting for the sono in two weeks.
