Re: Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht vs. Port Orleans FQ?

How did you narrow down to these 2 choices?

BBY are deluxe resorts while POFQ is moderate. If you're on a budget then POFQ is good. But if you can swing BBY, I would do any of those 3 'cus they are centrally located and walking distance to Epcot and Holly Studios.

Stormalong Bay is the name of the pool at the Beach Club and is awesome though may not be the best for little kids as it's hard to watch over them in such a large area.

POFQ is our favorite Moderate because of the size and central location. Plus it's recently refurbished.

I've stayed at all of the Epcot resorts as well and I'll be returning to the BoardWalk Inn in a couple of weeks for a special training/conference! My favorite of the Epcot resorts is the Beach Club. Best beds on property, proximity to Epcot can't be beat, we love Cape May Cafe and Beaches & Cream, and then there's Stormalong Bay. What more could you want? ;)

If price is not a factor, definitely Beach Club. We stayed there on our last trip. The pool is INCREDIBLE. It's basically a water park, and you really can't beat being able to WALK to EPCOT. The other good thing is you have a great character meal right there at Cape May Cafe, as well as Beaches and Cream....yummmmm...

We also found the bus service to be great there.

Price is a factor but so is convience especially with 2 kids. (If money were no object we would be at the Grand Floridian for 2 weeksChat Icon)

How far is the walk from Beach Club to Epcot? Is it ok to walk back at night? what happens when Epcot is closed like if we were doing extra magic hours at MK would we need to take the bus back to the hotel?

Thanks Chat Icon

It's a (barely) 5 minute walk from the International Gateway entrance of EPCOT to Beach Club. It's perfectly well lit and safe at night.

As for EMH at MK, you would have to take a bus back from MK, as you wouldn't be able to enter EPCOT after it's closed.

The monorail is at the main entrance of EPCOT and Beach Club is located at the rear entrance, so you need to walk through EPCOT to get to the monorail. Bus service is very good at Beach Club, or it was on our visit.!

we loved the boardwalk. And the walk to Epcot is super doable and easy. I was 20 weeks preggo and had a 3yo and had no issues with the walk - its MAYBE 5 minutes. And you can see the fireworks at epcots from teh bridge heading to Epcot
