BOCES school in W. Babylon in lockdown
A BOCES school in West Babylon is under a lockdown Monday after a local resident called police indicating they thought someone may have entered the school with a rifle, according to the school's Web site.
Suffolk police have declined to comment on the situation -- and have not confirmed any reports regarding the school or potential threats.
The incident at Brennan High School is being reported on the Western Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services Web site, which indicated the school has been on lockdown -- with no students allowed in or out of the building -- since 8 a.m. Monday.
According to the site, the report "preceded the arrival of all but one student, necessitating the implementation of a lockdown."
However, Western BOCES reports: "We have not found any evidence of a weapon, but are continuing to work with the police at this time."
The site said that students en route to the school have been "diverted by bus to a staging area," adding: "We will know shortly whether we are going to bring the students to an alternative site or if they will be able to return to the building."
The site reports that there have been "no incidents on site and all students are safe."

I wanna know how somebody can just walk into the school with a large rifle. It's not like a pistol or something that can be easily concealed.

I'm not sure where the Boces is in WB, but it really saddens me that there have been so many incidents in WB this year. I graduated from there and there was never anything like this when I was going through the schools. My god daughter and her brother are in that school district. It's such a good school district and these incidents are just going to ruin it. It's very sad. I hope this ends up being nothing to worry about and all of the students are safe.

Where is BOCES in West Babylon? I grew up there and never knew there was a BOCES.
