Re: boiling tap water vs. bottled water
Well, tap water is more regulated by the government than bottled water is. And it seems that a lot of bottled water is just water from other places, i.e., Dasani is water from Detriot (I think!)
I boil tap water and I've used plain old tap water too. We have a brita, but the water is too cold for DS, so I just leave a pitcher of already boiled water on my counter for him.

Re: boiling tap water vs. bottled water
My ped told me I should use bottle water the 1st couple of months then I could go to bottle water. I think it has to do with the floride in the bottle water, I don't think too much floride is good for them. However with all 3 of my kids I have always boiled the water unless I was on a vacation then I would use bottle.

Re: boiling tap water vs. bottled water
Boiling water cannot get rid of lead, mercury, rust, toxins, etc. in tap water (Long Island municipal water is pretty clean, so it's not really an issue, but well water could be suspect)
Bottled water is supposed to not have any particulates, and is regulated, but studies have shown that some plastic bottles leach chemicals into the water.

My pitcher on the counter? I use it for every bottle, so it doesn't stay there for very long, a day or so?
But once water is boiled, it's boiled, KWIM?

Boiling water kills bacteria and bugs. As soon as it cools down, any airborne critters can get back in the water, so leaving boiled water out too long can get contaminated again.
(BTW, we just used filtered tap water at our house. Usually the faucet-mounted filter. No boiling, no bottles)

Not if the pitcher is sealed
I use this
I just don't pre-mix the formula since DS likes room temp, our fridge is really cold and we don't have a microwave at the moment

BRU. It's a formula pitcher, it is like $7.99. It really does rock for making formula.

Re: boiling tap water vs. bottled water
Bottled water is not Sterile....
So you have to boil tap or bottled water if you want it sterile.

Re: boiling tap water vs. bottled water
I don't boil tap water because honestly, I'm just too lazy. I use bottled water. Poland Spring. I was doing the Brita thing for a while, but I noticed she was spitting up more. Maybe it's cause the black things from the filter were always ending up in the water. There is no flouride in Suffolk's water, and I don't think there is in Nassau either. Also, bottled water doesn't have flouride unless you buy Nursery Water or Dannon with flouride.
