Book clubs

Does anyone's DC belong to a book club for children's books?

I want to get some new books for Jared and I know how expensive books can get. Just wondering if anyone had a recommendation for any good deals.

Re: Book clubs

Stefanie -- do you know any active teachers who use scholastic in their classrooms?

IMO that is the cheapest way to go for good, quality books.

Re: Book clubs

Thanks ladies...I have my account still from when I was a teacher.

I just thought there was a book club where I could get a certain amount of books for 99 cents and then you have to buy one or two more in the end to fill the obligation/membership.

There's Children's Book of the Month Club, but I used to work for a book publisher managing a book club for tween girls and I can tell you that you will spend A LOT more on shipping alone than it would cost to get the same books (including the 99 cent ones) from Amazon.

ETA: There are also clubs for Disney books, Dr. Suess, etc. but they all use the same business model. They lose money on the book cost and make a killing on S&H.
