Book recommendations
DH is going in to read to DD's 1st grade class on friday for a father's day week. They cant seem to agree on ANY of the books we have at home. Any ideas for a good book to read to a first grade class? Not too long or too short and not too girly or boyish! LOL So far Sock Monkey will be the backup. Thanks!

Re: Book recommendations
All the kids in DD's class (K) loved "Arnie the Doughnut"
I read A Little Prairie House from the My First Little House Series and the boys were interested in the house building part and the teacher talked them about how a long time ago there was no tv, computers, etc and the kids were all amazed, lol.

Re: Book recommendations
Dh read at DS's class, but we wanted to do something that he could share about his culture, so he read "Oh No Gotto Go" about a girl that is driving with her parents and has to go to the bathroom, but it integrates Spanish words (DH is from Spain). He then brought in churros and told the kids how he remembers his grandmother sending him out in the mornings to buy them.
Do you have a story that you could connect the subject of a book to?

Leonardo The Terrible Monster, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive The Bus, Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late.. those were top 3 for a long time around these parts. Also - My Lucky Day is hilarious and charming.

Re: Book recommendations
Nearly any Robert Munch book - 50 below 0 or maybe Something Good or Aaron's Hair - all have a dad as a supporting or lead character.
My students love these!

Definitely Mo Willems books! They are sooo funny and all the kids love them! Don't Let the Pigeon Drive The Bus, Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late and The Pigeon Finds a Hotdog were our favorites.
