Book recommendations for babies
My SIL's shower is in two weeks and we are doing a book wishing well (like at mine, which I loved). Any recommendations? My SIL is a speech pathologist and works in the school, so she has a lot of children's books already and knows all the standard (Dr. Suess, Sandra Boyton, Eric Carle), so looking for something really good but not the standards.

Re: Book recommendations for babies
DD loves any book by Karen Katz. They have alot of peek a boo books which are great when they are a little older (a few months).

Re: Book recommendations for babies
not for young babies, but someone just got me "Walter the Farting Dog" for DS & I love it.
ETA: The title might make some people at the shower though.....

Re: Book recommendations for babies
The Red Lemon Tree, by Bob Staake.
It has rhymes (similar to Seuss), but much shorter, something a baby can actually listen to, and features lots of bright, primary colors and basic shapes. DS is only 4 months, and he loves it.
Also, I really like The Baby Goes Beep, by Rebecca O'Connell, but I think it's out of print.
And It Looked Like Spilt Milk, but she may already know/have that one. It's a standard.

Re: Book recommendations for babies
My girls are 2 and they love
Knuffle Bunny- by Mo Williams How do dinosaurs Eat their Food.
Also for my shower i got a Mothers Handbook..It had recipes, art projects, and all the old stories, Mother Hubbard, 3 little pigs, Little red riding hood..I use the book. Another good idea for a shower gift or after your friend has the baby is a subscription to babybug books- someone got this for me and they were mailed to my home and my GIlRLS absolutely love these books..i started reading to Syd and Reese these books around 8 months and to this day they still bring me the books to read..great gift!
HOpe this helps!

Re: Book recommendations for babies
My DD absolutely loves the hardcover books by Sandra Boynton. (Going to bed book, Pajama Time etc.) I actually ordered her more for her 1st B-day last week. (I figured we should go the educational route) We just started reading them and she loves those also. She loves the characters. The story lines are really cute and funny.
They are also really good because the books are small and hard cover.
Edit: Sorry I just read she might have Sandra Boynton books already.

Re: Book recommendations for babies
My DS is 5 months and he loves when I read him "Go Dog Go" by Dr. Suess and "Ten Little Ladybugs" by Melanie Gerth.
Haven't gotten real strong reactions from the other ones I have read to him so far.

Re: Book recommendations for babies
I have bought the entire Mo Willems library for the last 3 pregnant women I know - they are my kids ABSOLUTE favorites.
Leonardo The Terrible Monster Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus The Pigeon Wants A Puppy The Pigeon Finds A Hot Dog Edwina Time To Say Please Knuffle Bunny Knuffle Bunny Too And All the Piggie and Elephant books
There are more too... but that's all that comes to mind off the top of my head because we read them OVER AND OVER AND OVER again!
