Booking a cruise

Who do you usually book your cruise through? The site directly or a site like direct line cruises?
Thanks!

Re: Booking a cruise

Usually from the cruiseline website itself. However, i've heard good things about cruisecompete.com where online travel agents give you prices and some include upgrades or gifts.

Re: Booking a cruise

I've used cruisecompete.com for research, never booking though. They seem to have the most competitive pricing. We have booked through Cruises Only and Expedia. In fact, the last cruise we went on, we booked through Expedia, and they matched the cruisecompete.com price!

Re: Booking a cruise

cruisecompete.com is great for research, i usally use them and bring the lowest price to my local travel agent and they beat the price and i book through them.

Re: Booking a cruise

I usually book it through a TA or the cruise line website itself- NCL.com.

Re: Booking a cruise

I've used cruisecompete, now I just usually book through cruises-n-more.com. I found they give the best on board credit. I only cruise with RCCL, so I know if anyone says they can deal on the price of the cabin, they really can't because RCCL doesn't do this.

Direct with the cruise line. I never see any benefit that large that I would give up the ability to control my own reservation.

Re: Booking a cruise

We used to use Bestpricecruises.com. But the cruise lines no longer allow them to sell discounted tickets anymore. Rather they just offer extra perks.

Both. Directline usually gives us the best rate, plus free insurance and some sort of onboard credit. The cruiselines don't usually give free insurance. However, if you're a frequent cruises, you may have more benefits going directly through the cruiseline.

Re: Booking a cruise

cruisecompete.com ... TA's will compete for your business by offerering on board credit, wine, etc... For my upcoming cruise, I used cruise vacation outlet who is giving me $150 OBC for an inside room and $150 for a balcony... plus i convinced the TA to send a bottle of liquor to our room for my bday Chat Icon We'll see if it gets there!

I've also used cruise-n-more and had a wonderful experience... GL!!

Re: Booking a cruise

I always do research w/ Cruisecompete.com & our last 2 cruises we used directlinecruises.com which comes w/ insurance (something we never took out before & this was the 1x we had to use it & we got back our entire $$ we had paid).
