Borrowing a breast pump?
My girlfriend offered to lend me her Medela Breast pump - but i thought you couldn't do this. She said she though you could replace the tubes...
Any one know whether or not this is ok?

Re: Borrowing a breast pump?
I was given a used very expensive medical grade pump from my cousin when I had DD#1. I had no issue with it.

Re: Borrowing a breast pump?
Just buy the replacement kit for the tubing. It's about $50.

Everything is enclosed and made to avoid cross-contamination in a medical pump- it is made to be multi user. The reason the ones sold commercially are single user is because the motor is not enclosed and therefore, there is the possiblity of contamination. If you know the person you are getting it from, there's probably not an issue. However, I would never take/purchase a used one from a stranger.
As PP said, you should buy new tubing and other outside pumping parts.

Re: Borrowing a breast pump?
I thought the same thing but my best friend and sister-in-law both offered me their's so I'm thinking it's sanitary to share breast pumps

Re: Borrowing a breast pump?
I borrowed a Medela from my BF, had no problems. I bought new tubes and those horn things, everything basically was new except for the pump itself.

Re: Borrowing a breast pump?
I borrowed a pump for the first one, it was electric and not a Medela. I sanitized everything before I began using it but I still wound up with 2 infections. Not sure if it was the pump or my overflow of milk. But once I stopped using the borrowed pump I did not get any more infections. So personally I would never use a borrowed pump again
