Boston Spin Off - Best Places to Stay
We're looking to do Boston for 2 days in the Fall, it will be a Friday and Saturday night unfortunately...............everything is so much more expensive on the weekend!!
Anyway, can anyone recommend a decent, affordable, family friendly hotel that is close by some of the sights like Boston Commons, Faneuil Marketplace, and other sights. I've read Back Bay area is nice, is that a good area to be in?
Thanks!!!

Thanks!!
I'm checking all of the travel sites but it's hard to find anything under $350/night. Annoying given the fact we don't plan on being in the room much. Drawbacks of staying in a city!!

Just thinking about this lol, the hyatt in cambridge is nice but not in Boston. You would have to drive and park but its easy enough
Copley square is another good area. I think there is a marriott in back bay. I'm pretty sure my FIL used priceline and got a great deal there

Re: Boston Spin Off - Best Places to Stay
I used to live in Back Bay. There is a Sheraton and Westin in that area. Both should be reasonably priced and centrally located. Lots of good eats and walkable. You could drive/take the T to the major sights easily.
Love Boston!

I like the area by the aquarium since faneuil hall is right there and its walking distance to many attractions, but the hotels there can be expensive.

We've stay at the four seasons which was nice, but we got a corporate rate so it was less expensive than normal.
We've also stayed at the new Renaissance which was very nice.

I was just in Boston and the rates will not be much less than that 350 you found. You can stay out in Newton but you will have to drive in and that will end up costing you.

Re: Boston Spin Off - Best Places to Stay
Ideally, I would stay in Back Bay/Copley Square (I like the Marriott Copley Place and the Colonnade - roof top pool!)...I've stayed at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge before...its nice and easily accessible to downtown on the Red Line...You could also stay right outside of Boston in Brookline...you would be looking for something with easy access to the Green line and could be in the city in about 10-15 minutes depending on the distance.
**Part of what could be making things expensive could be the weekend you are choosing...there are so many schools up there and they definitely inflate prices for parent's weekend, big football game weekends, etc.

I used to stay in Brookline when visiting the Boston area years ago.

Groupon often has deals but we went for three nights during Memorial Day weekend and we got a pretty good rate on Airbnb. We also just stayed in Philly through Airbnb. I love it!

check out lastminutetavel.com I found a good deal through them. Though if you are trying to take one of their mystery deals, make sure yuo are 100% confirmed. We had an issue with one where the hotel turned down their rate and we weren't notified. we did book another room through them at a similar price.
we had a rate of $188 a night at the Hilton Backbay double bed room for last weekend. Although we canceled the trip, but that is another story.
