Bottle Spinoff
Okay, so I just read the post about the dr. browns and avent bottles. I did not purchase and bottles for baby yet. What do you suggest I get for baby? Now I am confused.

Re: Bottle Spinoff
You can use Playtex Drop Ins
Or just not use scalding liquid in the Avents or Dr. Brown's.

Can you put the bottles in warm water to heat them up though?

Re: Bottle Spinoff
sorry! i didn't this I was typing mine. I used bottled water at room temp and never ever heat my bottles. I am trying to find out if that is good enough. There was the article I read months ago=I'm trying to locate it--it had what bottles are ok.

Nope. No recall. It really is the same report that came out months ago saying that potentially they could be harmful somewhere down the line, no definative research or studies yet.
I will still use my Avents, and I am pretty sure I would even if I heated my bottles.

You don't need to heat bottles at all. DS has always taken room temp bottles and it makes life SO much easier when we aren't at home.

Okay, so that is good that bottles don't need to be heated. But what about cleaning them, can they go in the dishwasher or is that too hot? How do you properly sterilize them without it being dangerous to baby?

Well, first of all, you only have to sterilize the bottles the first time you use them, I *believe* this article is saying this is from repeated heating of bottles. I guess that is another thing that makes the drop ins safer b/c even if you can put the bottle itself in the dishwasher b/c the formula or breast milk never touches it.

Re: Bottle Spinoff
I just found this--one of mant articles online regarding the bottles. http://www.ecomall.com/greenshopping/consumerbaby.htm
I guess it comes down to...don't heat it or just switch..not so wonderful for all of us that already bought 900 bottles. I myself am calling the company tomorrow and switching to glass..

Re: Bottle Spinoff
I was about $100 into Avent when I decided to switch- ditched them all, and went to glass.... DD is 10 months old now- and the only time a bottle broke was when I dropped it in my ceramic sink...
