bottle sterilizer
Do you have one on your registry? If so which one?
Do you think it will be easier to just boil instead?

Re: bottle sterilizer
I used the avent microwave one... I loved it. I know they make disposable bags now too. I might try that this time around because it takes up no counter room.... I liked the convienence of it...

Re: bottle sterilizer
I put one and got it, but I just returned it a couple days ago. I'm nervous heating plastic bottles with all the controversy im hearing! plus i hear that putting them in the dishwasher sterilizes them...

Re: bottle sterilizer
with my eldest daughter I had one..I wound up just boiling the bottles in a big pot on the stove....I had a small kitchen with limited cabinet/counter space and didnt have the room for another contraption.

Re: bottle sterilizer
We had the Avent one, it was great til I burned a whole in it But it only works with Avent bottles (we use Avents, VentAires and Drop Ins)
So then I just boiled them. Now I have a dishwasher, so I run everything through that. So if you have a dishwasher I wouldn't bother.

I used the Avent one for 7 months (until I stopped sterilizing). I hated Avent bottles, however, and used the sterilizer w/ Dr. Brown's w/ no issue whatsoever. IT's all in the way you arrange the bottle and other parts.

Re: bottle sterilizer
I have one b/c I simply don't have the time to boil. I use it daily to be honest...I'm a little paranoid. I wash them and then put them in! I also don't have a dishwasher, but I did read that not all dishwashers get hot enough to sterilize either.
I wasn't too sure about the microwave version since I've heard it's not good to put the plastics in the microwave. I have the one by The First Years and I love it.

Re: bottle sterilizer
We have the Avent one as well, but plan on returning it. We were testing everything out today and it seems like an extra step. Washing, then sterializing... seems as though washing will be enough for us...

Re: bottle sterilizer
I have the first years sterilizer. It uses steam and is a stand alone unit (not microwaveable). I love it. It is very quick and works great with glass, plastic & even the silicone nipples.

Re: bottle sterilizer
i put on my regisry the first years this is what it looks like and says about it
A quick, natural way to make all of baby's bottles bacteria free - without the use of chemicals. The Especially For Baby Steam Sterilizer is a fast, environmentally-friendly way to sterilize your baby bottles. Just add tap water, and in approximately 8 minutes the heat of the steam generated will kill the bacteria.
