Boxes for moving
Where did the majority of you get your boxes for moving. I am trying to bring home as many as I can from my job, but I obviously will need many more. I know the moving companies sell them, but is it cheaper to get them on my own through Staples? What did everyone else do???

Re: Boxes for moving
Costco has a nice moving kit with various sized boxes. Getting the boxes through there was definitely cheaper than buying from Staples or a moving/storage company.

Re: Boxes for moving
personally there is absolutely no need to pay for boxes. Simply call stores (book stores are great like Borders) and ask when they get their deliveries and if you could come and pick up some boxes.

Re: Boxes for moving
My husband and I both took a lot from our offices and I bought a bunch of large ones at walmart. They were pretty cheap. I also asked everyone I knew to save all their boxes for me so I eneded up with everything from Air Conditioner boxes to shoe boxes (the shoe boxes were great for moving my small personal things like perfume and jewelry etc).

Re: Boxes for moving
I didn't have the time or patience to go hunting around for used boxes. I bought a lot from Sam's club, but I also got some from uhaul because they have more selection of sizes and types of boxes. Sam's also had great prices on packing tape and bubble wrap.

I have had great luck at liquor stores! The boxes are clean and great for holding books.

Here too - We bought from budget - in addition to whatever we brought home from work.

Re: Boxes for moving
For books, CDs, etc.. (since this is heavy), I got the small file archive boxes at Stapples. They are the econony pack of 6.
Depending on the sales, it's $7-$8 for the pack.

Re: Boxes for moving
I got a lot of boxes at Public Storage in Syosset. It wasn't too expensive for a kit of a bunch of different sizes.

Re: Boxes for moving
We didn't buy any boxes. We got some from work (copy paper), friends, pet stores, liquor store and our local florist.

I bought a bunch of these too. They're great for clothes, sheets, towels, etc. I think I'm also going to use them for my DS's toys. The only thing is they have a funky plastic smell. I hope I don't have to rewash everything once I unpack.
