Boy, 20 months, crashes car in Medford

A Coram toddler crashed a car into a building in Medford Tuesday night, police said.
At 7:11 p.m., the toddler's parents parked their 1993 Buick Century in front of Lang Insurance on Route 112, according to Suffolk police.
The 20-month-old boy's mother, Latoya Clayton, 23, got out of the car and left it running while she went into a check cashing business, police said. The father, Michael Comissiong, 58, of Coram stayed in the front passenger seat.
The toddler climbed from the backseat into the front, and put the car in drive, causing the Buick to roll into the building, police said.
No one was injured and there was minimal damage to the building.
This is another reason why you NEVER leave a child in a car unattended! Especially with it running!

From the article, it sounds like his father was in the car-I am wondering how this could happen with someone in the car-why would he let the child out of the car seat? This is completely avoidable IMO.

Yeah he didn't notice his 20 month old climbed in the front plus how did the kid get out of his car seat?

Yeah he didn't notice his 20 month old climbed in the front plus how did the kid get out of his car seat?
GREAT question! I know my 20 month old certainly doesn't know how to get out of her car seat
