I feel very strongly about this topic having two boys of my own (and not being a boy and therefore not easy to relate). Great read and very informative.
I also recommend the book: 'Wild Things: The Art of Nurturing Boys' by David Thomas. He is quoted in the article as well.

It WAS so interesting, and now as a mom of a boy I have a different take than I used to have, being a Kindergarten teacher.

I have always said, and continue to say that any child, ESPECIALLY a boy born in the late summer/fall should be held back from starting kindergarten. I KNEW I would do this for DS when I first found out I was pregnant! This article helped confirm that for me as well. It's all about maturity and readiness. Waiting an extra year just has so many benefits socially and physically. It's a win-win in my book!
