Boy name
Maybe I'll regret this post because I really like this name and DH and i are pretty much set on it. I'm 100 percent Sicilian so it only makes sense that we want to stick with our italian culture. We want to name our son Santino. My mothers middle name is Santina and ive always loved that name plus it's a nice tie for her as well. Some friends have been annoying the crap out of me however saying that it doesn't sound like an italian name and others are saying they aren't in love with it. Honestly I could care less because its our son and I know that no matter what someone will always have something to say but I'm not gonna lie and say that it hasn't bothered me in the slightest either! I just want to hear a few more opinions... What do u think of Santino? Yay or nay?

I like it! The reaction you're getting is the reason we aren't revealing the name until after is born.

Re: Boy name
Thanks ladies! Honestly we only told a few people I haven't told coworkers or even most of my family. I know it's not a name that you hear all the time but its also not an out of this world unique name that's why I like it most.

I like the name a lot too! Yep, exactly why we didn't announce the name until DS was born.

Thanks so much ladies I feel better now! I was still going with the name no matter what but people can just be so insensitive and they make you wonder am I screwing this kid with this name?! It's stressful to name someone for life!
Dani- that's what I said! I'm like if Santino isn't an italian name then the sky isn't blue lol have these people never seen the godfather? It's an italian name damnit! Haha.

Re: Boy name
Those people are nuts. Santino sounds super Italian to me.
Here is the origin from the baby naming website:
Santino is the Italian pet form of Santo, the Italian word for “saint” (from the Latin “sanctus” meaning “sacred, saint”). As a diminutive form, Santino essentially means “little saint”. It’s unclear how common this name is in Italy or when it started circulating as a masculine given name, but we do know that Americans were introduced to it in Mario Puzo’s 1969 novel “The Godfather” about the Sicilian Mafia family Corleone. Santino “Sonny” Corleone is the oldest of Don Corleone’s three sons (played by James Caan in the 1972 film adaptation). Ironically, as the most brazen and violent of the brothers, Santino Corleone was far from being a “little saint” (although he does have a soft side that rears its saintly self on occasion). Santino is occasionally used in the United States but it’s currently most popular in Argentina.

And this is why I don't say anything until the baby is born. That and superstition. It's nobodys f'ing business what we name OUR child.
If you and dh like it, go for it.

It's too ethnic for me but it definitely sounds Italian. And this is why we never revealed DD's name and why we won't for this baby either.
