Boys dress clothes... Suits

We have a bat mitzvah to go to next weekend. I have black suits for the boys. Fun thing that my almost 5 yr old DS fits better in a 3t jacket. Do they run big? I am going to get a 4t from a friend tomorrow in case and to see the size difference. Also, my mom picked up two dress tops from nordstroms with matching ties. She bought a 5 and 4 for my almost 5 yr old and 2 yr old. My 2 yr old usually wears size 3. Anyway, when I put the 4 next to my older DS it seemed huge. Does it seem right to have to change it to and 2 and 3t for them? DH says they need to fit well. I'm used to always putting them in bigger tops.

Thanks!

Oh... I also bought the boys cute tan/light beige boat shoes I thought would look cute with the black suits but would that be off? Thought it would look cool. DH thinks they should wear black with a black suit but they're 4 and 2. Thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about the size itself, just make sure the clothes fit on your children.

As for the shoes, IMO, black shoes with a black suit. I can't really picture tan shoes with a black suit, but it's your call!

I agree with your DH (I know, I know, I'm normally on your side 100% Chat Icon )

But no boat shoes w/ formal black suits & ties. You COULD habe done that w/ khakis and navy blazers which would have been equally appropriate for the occassion - but not w/ black suits! They need black dress shoes. (OR you can go the 'cutsey' route and put them in black converse .........DH would NEVER let that fly in my house though)

Also, their dress shirts need to be fitted. They can't be too big -

LOL! Thanks! I know he's right. Was trying something different, but gotta go with the black dress shoes. My DH is like yours.
Yes, gotta go back to Nordstroms and get the right size for them. Didn't realize they ran so big.
