braxton hicks question
Is it normal to have braxton hicks constantly, all day long? I get them every time i get up and walk around, if i sit in my chair i get them every few minutes or so..driving in the car.. no matter what i do, im constantly getting these. Is it anything to be worried about at 35 weeks?

Re: braxton hicks question
I'm at 30 weeks and never had BH, but I would call your OB and notify him/her and ask. Just to be safe.

Re: braxton hicks question
Are you drinking enough water? They can occur if you are dehydrated - but it could be the signs of early labor coming on - so definitely call your dr. ASAP!

Re: braxton hicks question
well ive been sitting in bed with my feet up and ive been drinking alot. It just seems like all day today and the past few days ive been getting them alot. My dr. also has never checked my cervix for dilation either. Aren't they supposed to check? Not that I want a pelvic exam or anything.. but I am curious if they notice anything.

Re: braxton hicks question
they dont sound like BH contractions. there are uterine contractions, BH contractions and labor contractions. BH do stop when you move and change positions. i thoght i was having BH but they wouldnt stop. i finally called the dr and i was sent to the hosipital. they were "real"' contractions. i was 29 weeks. they stopped them and now the babies are still safely inside a few weeks later. They dont think they were labor contractions b.c other things happen along with labor contracitons like a shortened cervix or dialiation or thinning of the cervix which werent happening.

Re: braxton hicks question
Yes, it's completely normal. My doctor told me I am going to get them more often and they may get much more intense as I get closer to my due date.
I noticed we are due around the same time and I am getting them as often as you are. Just time them, if they are 5 minutes apart you should definitely call your OB.
Getting BH is a good thing because not only is your body preparing for labor but it's also pushing the baby down into the birth canal for you. I was hospitalized twice due to BH so I feel like the BH pro!

Re: braxton hicks question
Braxton Hicks are painless contractions. It basically feels like your stomach is tightening so much to the point where it literally takes your breathe away for a second. They dont' last longer than a minute, for me they last about 15 seconds or so.
My doctor told me if they are consistently 5 minutes apart and last for 45 seconds at a time to call her immediately.
Just drink tons of water and keep your feel elevated, BH is completely normal especially during this time in pregnancy.
Feel better

Re: braxton hicks question
I get them all day everyday too, and sometimes they actually hurt. They are normal and just your body getting ready for baby.

Re: braxton hicks question
My BH contractions started increasing in intensity and frequency at just about 35 weeks. I don't think it's a big deal.
