Brazilian Blowout
Anyone ever had this done? I'm having this done in 3 weeks and I am so excited!!! My salon charges $300 (I have pretty long hair-past my shoulders). How much do I tip? Is it 20%? $60 seems like so much but not sure.

I get it twice a year. I usually tip 15-20 percent.
Not sure where you are located, if you're not tied to your salon, Curl Evolution has a special in January they do it for 200.00. (But book now I know they are filling up.) They have the 200 special every January and June.

Also, you have to use the special shampoo and conditioner, it is sulfate free. It's usually cheaper to buy off of Amazon then at the salon. Usually it's 25 dollars for shampoo or conditioner while on Amazon I'll get both shampoo AND conditioner for 35ish including shipping.
ETA: Looking at the site, they may have upped the prices for new customers to 225 - but that is still cheaper then your price and it includes a bottle of shampoo.

Unless you are dead set on your salon you can get it much cheaper other places. 300 is a lot. I only paid that the first time when it was a brand new thing.

Re: Brazilian Blowout
Hmm. I live in Queens. In Whitestone. I do love my salon. My cousin got hers done in Astoria and her hair is a little shorter than mine and her salon charged $325.
I know it's so expensive. I haven't even told DH yet. He's going to think I'm out of my mind, but I really can't take my hair anymore. And if it's only twice a year I figure I'll deal. From what I hear from everyone, they say it's a life changing experience. Lol.
Yes I knew that about the shampoo. It's sulfate free shampoo and conditioner I'm supposed to use, right? Ok good to know about Amazon. I'll just order it off there rather than get it in the salon. Are there any other products I'll need? My hair is colored (to cover my grays) if that matters.

Just to set your expectations;
It really only lasts 3-4 months. The last 2 months are difficult. And I only wash my hair 2x a week, so it lasts longer on me then someone who washes every day.
I found even using the Brazilian blowout shampoo and conditioner after all of the 'treatment' has washed off it's much better than using a regular keratin shampoo (I had usually just used Ion Keratin shampoo/conditioner from Sallys.)

Re: Brazilian Blowout
I think its overrated.
I work out a lot and I think the sweat strips out some of the treatment.
I wouldn't spend 300 on it - it lasted 6-8 weeks and it wasn't great at the end of the 8 weeks.

You are going to need it more than 2x per year. It def does not last as long as they say and I've done 3 different brands.

Yes, I have to agree. I've seen it at other salons (in Queens) for $200, sometimes even less.
But, I know how it is to be loyal to a salon, so I would still tip 20%, even though I agree it is a lot.
