im not pregnant but my hair salon wont even perform the procedure b.c its so bad for you.
a woman died after having the treatment and going in a steamy shower....should say something about the chemicals and formaldahyde in that stuff

not all formulas have formaldehyde in them! you have to check with the salon. my girls uses one without it.

Check into this. I heard that the ones "without it" still have to have an active ingredient to work, and usually it's another "-aldehyde" compound. It's not like the "other" ones work so well without the bad chemicals. Not having formaldehyde is a technicality. I wouldn't get any Brazilian treatment--pregnant or not.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it NOT PREGNANT because of the chemicals in her (as per 2 hairdressers I know). Its still too new and they don't know all the affects of it. But what they do know is that it is bad for you- has to be done in an open room with lots of ventilation so you don't breathe the stuff in.
i defintiely would not do it pregnant.

ETA: Also, the PG hormones change your hair. I know that mine for example became very resistant to colour while PG. Even with a higher volume of peroxide & a longer deposit time, the colour did not ever come out right until about 3 - 4 mos PP.

My gf did the non-formadelhyde treatment on my hair after I had DD. Months after. She would't do it on my hair while I was PG. Even w/o the formaldehyde.

I heard the same thing! Many salons stopped offering the service as a result.
When I was pregnant with #1 I was having some bad hair issues too and went to see someone, they told me not to do anything while I was pregnant and a few months after (especially while nursing) because your hair will change because of the hormones.
