Breast Cysts

Has anyone ever had this? What did it feel like? How did you know for sure, your doctor gave you a sonogram?

I have had pretty bad breast pain off and on for a while. I went to my gyno about it a few months ago and she said to stop drinking caffeine and that might work, and if not I would need to get a sonogram. I really didn't exactly get why the caffeine thing would work, but I did for a while, and it mostly went away for a while.

I have gone back to drinking caffeine and I have been feeling it again and just recently pretty bad. So I am stopping now again. But when I spoke to the nurse and my gyno again recently about it ( I thought it might have something to do with my birth control this time) she told me that they say to stop drinking caffeine because if you have a breast cyst, it makes it worse. THE DOCTOR NEVER MENTIONED ANYTHING TO ME ABOUT A CYST Chat Icon Chat Icon

If I would have known it might be that I would have gotten a sono a few months ago...

ETA: I have a gyno appointment in 2 weeks, I am just wondering if anyone else has any info

Re: Breast Cysts

I had a very similar thing happen years ago, but my gyno sent me right to the breast surgeon for an ultrasound. The gyno thought it was a cyst, but wanted to be sure (I have a history of breast cancer in my family -- my mom) The surgeon said it was a cyst and after my next cycle it should go away and it did. Thank God. Chat Icon He did mention the caffeine thing too, but I don't drink coffee, so it didn't really apply.

Re: Breast Cysts

I had them when I was younger & it wound up being nothing.

This post just reminded me to call my gyn...stupid I know but they've been calling me for months...apparently some issue with my latest mammogram. sigh...

I've heard of the caffeine thing too. Did they send you for a mammogram?Chat Icon

etd. it felt like a hard lump before, got worse during cycles.

Re: Breast Cysts

is she sure it's a cyst? ive never had cysts, but about 2 years ago, found a huge lump in my breast. thank god, it wasn't cancer, but it was not a cyst and i had to go through the whole sonogram, mammo., biopsy and lumptectomy beofre we found it was NOT cancer. ETA: i was only 29 when all this went down.

I would get it looked at ASAP. and if they're not sure by looking at the sonogram, get a biopsy. i have a GREAT breast dcotor if you need.

GOOD LUCK!
