breast pump recommendations
We registered last weekend, and I avoided this area because I have no idea what I should get. I totally plan on BFing, but I wanted your recommendations/experiences. TIA

Re: breast pump recommendations
I have the Medela Pump in Style and the Medela Harmony hand pump. Both are great.

Re: breast pump recommendations
I used the Medela Pump In Style, no complaints. Though, if you have large breast, invest in the XL shields.

Re: breast pump recommendations
I have the Medela Pump in Style and I'm very happy with it. It costs about $225.
I also have the Advent Isis (manual pump). I love this one too. It works great and I carry it in my bag to pump when I'm out if I've brought pumped bottles of breastmilk to feed DS or if I'm out without DS (on those rare occasions). I'll be going back to work in a couple of weeks and I'll be bringing the pump in style to work to pump since it's faster.

I have the Pump in Style Advanced and it was $320. For me, it was worth the investment! I use it at least 3x a day being that I work so I needed something to stand up to the test of time. It's been great!!

Re: breast pump recommendations
I bought the Ameday Purely Yours, and I am very happy with it. It is very similar to the hospital pump I rented (Lactina Select, I think) and was about $100 less than the medela, and also weighs less. I would recommend renting a hospital pump for a month or two before buying a breast pump, to make sure you are comfortable with pumping, the breastfeeding is going well, etc. A friend of mine bought a pump, only to find out that her baby was allergic to a milk-protein in her breast milk at 6 weeks of age. Good luck!

Re: breast pump recommendations
personally i would rent a hospital grade.. why spend all that money on a pump if you don't know if it's gonna work out for you!

Re: breast pump recommendations
I have the Medela Swing. It is a single electric pump. Works great, lightweight and fast. No complaints!

Re: breast pump recommendations
Medela Pump in Style or the Ameda Purely Yours.
If you plan on exclusively pumping I recommend a rental grade pump.
