breast pump rental
I am gonna try to nurse, but I don't think I'll make it past 4-6 weeks. So, I don't want to buy or register for a pump. I know that you can rent them at the hospital and I saw in BRU that they have a breast pump rental program. Does anyone know more about these programs? When do you have to tell them you need the pump? How much does it cost?

Re: breast pump rental
I don't know about the BRU program, but the way it worked at my hospital was like this.... A few hours after I delivered the lactation specialist on duty started making her rounds. She answered questions I had, dropped off great reading material, and a sheet of prices for pump rentals and how much it would cost to buy the parts for the rental. I didn't have to make a decision till my last day at the hospital before I was discharged.
I would call the hospital that you will be delivering at and ask to speak to someone from their lactation center (if they have one on site) just to check out their procedures.
BTW - In the end I ended up buying a Medela Pump in Style Advance (AWESOME breast pump) from the lactation center (as well as a few nursing bras by Medela) before I left the hospital. It was $75 less than in the stores and would have ended up costing me less than renting for a few months. I didn't think I would keep using it/pumping this long - my DS is now 13 weeks old because I was kind of skitish with the idea of BF - but this pump makes it so easy to stick with it, even know that I am back at work. Best investment and decision I made. Good luck!

Great! Did they say when you need to call to get it? Is there a wait list for them?

I asked if you had to reserve it before hand. She said no but to call them to see if they have them in store.

Re: breast pump rental
I rented mine from a pharmacy, it was the Medela Symphony and it was only 35 bucks a month. Best 35 bucks I could spend!
