Breast pumps? Renting or buying one?
Just curious about what you guys will be doing for your breast pump... I want to rent one... where could I rent one, from the hospital? Do I need to arrange this now, or can I wait until I go in?
TIA!

Re: Breast pumps? Renting or buying one?
I picked up a pamphlet at Babies R Us for rentals.
I don't plan on breastfeeding/pumping for that long. DH thinks we should just buy the pump since he expects me to be pumping well after I return to work.

Re: Breast pumps? Renting or buying one?
if it was me, i might buy. a lot of people say i will breastfeed for just a month or so and then stop. what's tough about BF, no one knows how it's going to go. maybe you'll lvoe it....maybe it will be really easy for you and it'll work out great. for that scenario, i think i would buy one. on the other hand, some womencan't produce enough milk and breastfeeding doesn't work out at all, in that case i would rent.
so to answer your question, who knows!!!! i would probably rent to start and see how it goes.

I bought one. I prefer the idea of having my own-- but that's just me.

Re: Breast pumps? Renting or buying one?
I am renting one this time around. I bought one last time and it wasn't the greatest and then it ended up that I had no supply to begin with.
I will rent one and if it goes well, then I will buy one.
Not everyone can BF and once you open the box, it is yours forever

This is a good idea... I might try this, too... Rent at first, then see if it even works for me. If so, I'm sure the renting $ will add up and it will be worth buying anyway.
Thanks!

Re: Breast pumps? Renting or buying one?
What is your need for the BP? I pumped exec. for 1 year so I can help you figure out what works best for you. Are you a full-time working mom that will need to pump or do you just want to have one for a bottle once in a while?

I registered for one totally not thinking anyone would buy it for me, but they did. Had they not, we would have bought it ourselves.

I have the PIS Advance and a Isis Electric. I also used a rental for both children. Again, there are different purposes to each.

Re: Breast pumps? Renting or buying one?
i rented.. i wanted to BF for about 3months but wanted a month 'trial' for my own sanity. Who knows if I could manage it or if she'd latch?
We I could and she latched like a pro.. but that didnt mean I got to BF
I had totally unexpected and very very surprising health issues after she was born. The medication I took made it impossible for me to BF anymore.
So I rented it on 1st of Sept and returned it two weeks later. It cost me $80. I consider that a steal compared to buying it then finding out I couldn't pump anymore. Plus not having it in the house took a little of the pressure/guilt/saddness out of me that I had when I found out I couldn't BF even if I wanted to!
