Breastfeeding class - yay or nay?
I'm def not doing a childbirth class. I know infant CPR bc of my job so not taking that either.
Should I bother with a breastfeeding class?
(FYI- I'm delivering at Winthrop so I'd take the class there)

I took the class (at Good Sam) before I had dc#1 & found it to be very informative & helpful. If trying to BF is important to you then I'd definitely recommend it

I took one, not through the hospital though.
I thought it was helpful to learn more about BF in general and have other moms available to talk and share their experiences or questions.
But I really learned about BF from the lactation consultant at the hospital after DD birth and my doula.
Things like the football hold just didn't make sense until I had an actual baby to practice with!

I agree. A class is helpful, but I don't think anything truly prepares you for BFing.

Ditto, except I took it at New Baby Belly.

I didn't take one during my pregnancy, but after I had the baby they had a BFing class for new moms and I took that which was somewhat helpful. I had an LC come every day that I was in the hospital (5 days) and that was the one thing that helped most.

Re: Breastfeeding class - yay or nay?
I just watched a BF video instead of taking a class. I agree with others that you really need to learn once baby is here.
A class I do recommend taking is and Infant care clas. I learned alot and took tons of notes. They came in handy once DS was born. It was good for my DH as well since had never even held a baby. They made you bring a doll and the husbands has to put a diaper on them.

It's like a parent education center in Massapequa. They are a vendor on here. I definitely recommend checking them out. They have breastfeeding, childbirth ed, CPR, prenatal yoga, and more. I took all of those classes there with my first pregnancy. Can't say enough about them- love them!!

I just re-read my post & realized that I actually misspoke/typed - stupid preggo brain! I never made it to the class before he was born because I went into labor 2 weeks early, so I wound up taking it on the maternity floor afterwards with a bunch of other new moms. It was still very good though
